LOCAL NEWS & EVENTS

View our Links page for more details about forthcoming local networking events.

If you have a CCTV system in your retail premises which is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (as required by the Data Protection Act), you had to state the purpose of the system. You may have put "The prevention and detection of crime".

If this is the case and you can play back images and/or export them and it transpires that the image quality is so poor that the police can't use them, you could be in breach of the DPA because the system cannot be used for its stated purpose.

If you would like a free CCTV health check, please call Peter Caulfield (Crime Reduction Tactical Advisor & Architectural Liaison) at Essex Police on 0300 333 4444 ext 395387.

WHAT WE DO

The Chamber of Trade is a group of business men and women who work together for the good of Great Dunmow and the surrounding district. We promote the town and the businesses in it, encouraging people to visit the town and use our local businesses. We're here to keep Dunmow thriving.

HOW WE DO IT

Although we cannot make final decisions, we are constantly writing letters and attending meetings to put across our point of view on various important local issues.

We're not a charity. We can apply for grants from Uttlesford District Council, if available, and any money that is given must be matched by the Chamber, so it is beneficial to everyone that we have as many members as possible.

Great Dunmow High Street

We promote our members on the internet, not only on this site but also on the Day Out in Dunmow website, which has been created by the chamber to highlight the shops and other services available in Dunmow for visitors and residents.

Being on our websites will give you a higher profile, letting people know who you are, where you are and what service you provide, all at the touch of a button. This can be very important, especially if you are not in a prominent high street position but on an industrial estate or working from home.

We also produce a bi-annual town directory with all members listed. Extra advertising is offered at a subsidised price to members. These directories are delivered free to every home in Dunmow.

We have created a promotional leaflet which is circulated to local hotels and information centres, encouraging people to visit Dunmow for a day out.
